I suppose that this is true if the developers are trying to fund the development of the game, but if they are making a product in the first place, then there’s a good chance that the only audience for the game is the people who already bought it on Steam or the Steam Greenlight. So what is the point of the long-run series? Because I don’t know, I just know that this is a hard problem to solve.

This is one of the reasons why we do not own a game. We can’t possibly know what people will want or not want. For example, the original Fallout was a very good game. It was a long-run series and there were many different options on offer. We have no idea what people will want. And that’s why we should not be making games.
