We all know how wedding dresses are made. The bride and groom each get one and they are made from a very specific fabric. One that is soft, yet strong enough to stand up to the elements. This is actually more of a “why not?” question. I mean, is it something that you would want to wear every day? I think it’s perfectly reasonable for anyone to have a dress that looks gorgeous on the outside and still fits their body.
The dress is made by a company called the Dress Design Institute. The company itself is located in Seattle and focuses on custom dressmaking. They are based on the idea that the entire process of making a dress is the exact same as making a book. Every step from the very beginning, from the very first sketch to final production, is the exact same. They even have a very cool way to print your design on one of the many 3D printers that are available.
The other cool thing? The dress is actually made right in Seattle.

The dressmaker, Jessica, describes her process as a “dry run,” which means that it is all made in the same location but with all the details kept to a minimum. They try to make the whole process as seamless as possible.
The process is really similar, but they do take a bit longer to make. Jessica explains, “It takes a long time to make a dress. We start with the fabric and sew it. Then I cut it, trim it, and sew it. Then it’s sewn in the back. Then I trim an oversize seam allowance, then it’s attached. Then the seam finishes up. And then I make the final adjustments.
Here’s the thing, though. That process can take anywhere from one to one and a half hours. And it’s not just the sewing that takes time. The seams need to be sewn, the seams need to be stitched, the hem needs to be hemmed, and the hem needs to be hemmed. It must take a lot of time, too.
The process of making a wedding dress is one of the most tedious and frustrating parts of creating a wedding dress. There are a lot of factors to consider, not the least of which is the number of times you need to make adjustments on each design you create. If you’re running out of time, or don’t have a team of seamstresses you can trust, you’ll need to do all the cutting, stitching, and hemming on your own.
The other great thing about getting married is that it’s one of the most public moments you’ll have in your life. I recently got married on a Saturday so they could not have been expecting anyone to turn up at the ceremony. The whole point of getting married was to make it seem like its the only time you’re going to be getting married. Its also one of the most expensive weddings too, because one person had to buy all the equipment for the big day.
