The race for the Ballon d’Or in 2021 can be said to have already reached the home stretch. The countdown will end on November 29 when the French edition of France Football will name the winner of its poll. As you know, now there are 30 players nominated for the award, but only a few of them have the most compelling reasons to claim victory.
Who do you think will win the Ballon d’Or this year? There is no clear favorite, many players deserve to receive this award? Don’t want to try to guess and place a bet on the winner? You might be interested in sport betting in Tanzania.
Lionel Messi
The Argentine striker is the current owner of the Ballon d’Or, which he won in 2019. Messi is now undoubtedly looking forward to another success, and his hopes are well founded. In 2021, Leonel won the America’s Cup with Argentina and became the best player in the continental championship. However, at the club level in Barcelona, things were not as successful for him as in the national team, but he nevertheless took part in the conquest of the Spanish Cup by the Catalans, and added the Pichichi trophy to his personal collection – an award awarded by the Spanish edition of Marca the top scorer of the season in the Spanish league.
Also, 2021 was a year of change and a new challenge for Leo. Last summer, he ended his career at Barcelona, and moved to the French capital, where he joined the ranks of PSG.
Robert Lewandowski
The striker of Bayern and the Polish national team is humanly very sorry. The previous year 2020 was definitely his year, and according to its results, he was supposed to become the owner of the Golden Ball, in the absence of other worthy contenders. But, alas, France Football refused to award the prize, and Lewandowski was left without a well-deserved recognition.
To Robert’s credit, he did not give up and is now again among the main competitors for the prize. This year he won three trophies with Bayern Munich – the Bundesliga, the Club World Cup and the German Super Cup. On the “personal front” the Pole was able to surpass the seemingly eternal record of Gerd Müller in the German championship, scoring 41 goals in 29 matches. With such efficiency, Lewandowski was able to win the Golden Boost for the first time in his career.
Jorginho
The Brazilian Italian is another contender to declare himself the winner at the end of the race. And he deserves it for a reason. Jorginho won the Champions League with Chelsea in 2021, then he became the European champion in the ranks of the Italian national team, and after that he again won the UEFA Super Cup together with the “aristocrats”.
